Welcome to First Church

We are a community of people who have come together to serve God the way that Jesus did- by working to make God’s vision of a peaceful, just and inclusive world a reality.  We believe that God is still speaking in ways that are grounded in ancient Christian understandings but which are fresh expressions of the Divine presence in contemporary life.  And we believe that God calls to journey together, because living the way Jesus did takes courage, commitment and a network of loving support.

We aren’t a large or wealthy congregation, but we believe God has given us abundant gifts to share.  We are committed to ministries of hospitality to the hungry, homeless and marginalized.  We don’t have all the answers, but we try to provide a safe place to ask the tough questions and explore the meaning of faith in today’s world.  And we believe that God intended us to be one human family, so we work to build bridges among diverse groups of people.
