Christian Education

Christian Education Outlook and Guidelines

We as members and parents of First Church understand that Christian Education is an on-going and constant process, not just one that occurs on Sunday mornings. There is the explicit curriculum that we choose to teach, but there is also the implicit curriculum of our actions - through which we teach those around us every second of every day.

Thus we believe that it is more important to understand why Jesus tells you to love our neighbor and to practice that love in our daily lives, than to recite the quote from Matthew 22:39.

Christian Education Guidelines

We will offer opportunities for people of all ages to:

bulletparticipate regularly, as appropriate, in the activities at First Church.
bulletunderstand the need for and participate in both local and worldwide missions projects that benefit those in need, such as those suffering from poverty, natural disasters, the homebound and the like.
bulletunderstand that God’s live is for all people, regardless of their color, appearance or position.
bulletunderstand that in the scripture there are many images of God.
bulletunderstand the need to live our Christian principles as Jesus taught us through every aspect of our lives.
bulletunderstand the importance of inviting and welcoming others in our community to join in activities at First Church.
